  • Lake Sam Rayburn, the largest in Texas, is a major regional and national attraction for water sports, fishing and lakefront living. Set amidst the natural beauty of Angelina National Forest, the 570 miles of shoreline are home to the area’s wide array of resorts, marinas, restaurants and lakefront homes.
    • Lake Sam Rayburn is one of the very best for bass fishing, rated second in the nation in Bassmaster’s 2013 national rankings.
    • More than 300 fishing tournaments a year create unique energy and excitement. Tournaments include ESPN/Bassmasters, Bass Champs, FLW Outdoors and Angler’s Quest.
  • Martin Dies Jr. State Park, which lies at the forks of the Angelina and Neches rivers alongside B.A. Steinhagen Lake, comprises about 730 acres of land with extraordinary flora and fauna. The park offers seven boat launches at one of the best Texas paddling destinations, fishing, swimming, hiking, birding and more than 200 campsites including waterfront sites, screened shelters and mini-cabins.
  • B.A. Steinhagen Lake, a 10,687-acre reservoir located on the Neches River 14 miles west of Jasper, is a great place to cast a line for largemouth bass, spotted bass, crappie and catfish.
  • Toledo Bend, 35-minutes from Jasper, is the largest man-made lake in the South and another top-ranked fishing lake.
  • Watersport fans enjoy fishing, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding and swimming. Some prefer canoeing or kayaking on the county’s two major rivers, the Angelina and the Neches.
  • Nature nearby. Those who like to stay dry have the choice of camping, hunting, bird watching and hiking. Two of the state’s four National Forests (Angelina and Sabine) are within a 15-minute drive of the city.
  • Waterfront Living. The area’s resorts, marinas, restaurants and lakefront homes fit a wide variety of budgets, ranging from exclusive gated communities to seasonal family cabins.
  • Golf. There are two golf courses in Jasper County and several others within driving distance.
    • The Golf Club at Rayburn Country is a 27-hole golf course community nestled in the piney woods and along the lake. One of its three nines was designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones Sr. Its Black Course is a 37.1 rating, 136 slope.
    • Jasper Country Club is a private club and nine-hole executive course southeast of Sam Rayburn. It is 3,221 yards, 36 par, 35.2 rating, 114 slope.
    • Dogwood Hills County Club is 27 miles from Jasper, in Woodville, Texas.
